A Qualitative Approach To The Role Of Board Of Management, School Climate And Teachers’ Morale As Determinants Of Pupils’ Academic Performance In Public Primary Schools In Marani Sub-County, Kenya
(Maasai Mara University, 2017)
The Kenya government is keen on ensuring pupils excel in their academic work. Some of the progressive
steps the government has taken are enhancing access to education by providing free primary education and
waiving of ...
The changing transport conditions and their implications for pedal cycling in Kisumu, Kenya
(2017-03-28)
Background
Current longitudinal studies focus mainly on understanding how travel choices respond to changes in events that are within the control of individuals. Such events include changes in family structures, residential ...
Adult Literacy Programme has been providing knowledge and skills to enhance human capital for the solution of various problems in society. The problem in the area of study has however been environmental degradation occasioned by persistent deforestation. The study set out to establish the impact that the planning and implementation of the programme has on enhancing environment development and management in view of the continued environmental degradation in the County. A conceptual framework based on educational production function theory was used to explain the link between the programme and environmental development and management. Using descriptive survey design, the findings revealed that, learners’ theoretical understanding and practical application of skills learnt were assessed. The study concluded that, as knowledge and skills acquired were applied, more evaluation needs to be done downstream to ascertain the practical returns to education
(Càtedra d'Accessibilitat, 2017)
Learners with physical disability in the western part of Kenya frequently make use of bus terminals during in the trip to and from school. Special schools attended by learners with a physical disability are few in number ...
Association between Fcγ receptor IIA, IIIA and IIIB genetic polymorphisms and susceptibility to severe malaria anemia in children in western Kenya.
(BMC infectious diseases, 2017-04)
BACKGROUND:
Naturally-acquired immunity to Plasmodium falciparum malaria develops after several episodes of infection. Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs) bind to immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies and mediate phagocytosis of ...
The mechanism of 2-chlorobiphenyl oxidative degradation by nanoscale zero-valent iron in the presence of dissolved oxygen
(Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2017-11-08)
It has recently been demonstrated that the addition of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) to oxygen-containing water or soil aquifers results in the oxidation of organic compounds. However, there has been little insight ...
Fate processes of chlorobenzenes in soil and potential remediation strategies: A review
(Elsevie, 2017-06-30)
Abstract Chlorobenzenes (CBs) are a group of organic pollutants that pose a high
environmental risk due to their toxicity, persistence and possible transfer in the food chain.
Available data in literature show that CBs ...
Temporal genetic differentiation in Glossina pallidipes tsetse fly populations in Kenya
(BioMed Central, 2017-12)
Glossina pallidipes is a major vector of both Human and Animal African Trypanosomiasis
(HAT and AAT) in Kenya. The disease imposes economic burden on endemic regions in
Kenya, including south-western Kenya, which has ...

Haplotype of non-synonymous mutations within IL-23R is associated with susceptibility to severe malaria anemia in a P. falciparum holoendemic transmission area...
(BioMed Central, 2017-04-20)
Background Improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in pediatric
severe malarial anemia (SMA) pathogenesis is a crucial step in the design of novel
therapeutics. Identification of host genetic ...
Multiple evolutionary origins of Trypanosoma evansi in Kenya
(Public Library of Science, 2017-09-07)
Trypanosoma evansi is the parasite causing surra, a form of trypanosomiasis in
camels and other livestock, and a serious economic burden in Kenya and many other parts
of the world. Trypanosoma evansi transmission can ...
