    The effect of Mass Media on youth participation in governance: a case study of Masinga District

    Abstract/Overview
    This research study seeks to find out if mass media have had influence on youth participation in governance in Masinga district. It further seeks to find out whether mass media has been used as a tool to empower the youth. The study also seeks to find out the suitable mass media channels that can be used to effectively disseminate information on governance and empower the youth in Masinga. The overall objective of the study is to assess the effect of mass media on youth participation on governance. Specifically the study will: assess the extent to which mass media can influence youth participation on governance, find out the suitable mass media channels that can be used to enhance youth participation in governance in Masinga district, and review the effect of mass media as a tool to empower the youth in governance. Chapter one gives a background of the study explaining the situation of youth participation in governance in Masinga district. The chapter also gives a brief background of Masinga district. The chapter includes objectives of the study, justification of the study, limitations and scope of the study, research questions and definitions of terms. In Chapter two the literature used in this research study have been reviewed. The chapter also includes the various theories that have been discussed. In chapter three the research methodologies used in collecting and analysing data have been outlined. Description and interpretation analysis of the findings have been discussed in chapter four. Finally, in chapter five summary, conclusion and recommendations of the findings have been outlined.
