A study has been carried out on temperature distribution on Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) fluid flow in a pipe of elliptical cross section.
Fluid is electrically conducting, viscous and incompressible. Governing equations are partial differential equations comprising Ohm’s Law
of electromagnetism, heat energy equation, equation of continuity and
cross section of the pipe. Heat energy equation is converted into ordinary differential equation embracing similarity transformation and
solved by Finite Element Method. Findings are in form of tables and
contours and affirm that: Peak temperature of the fluid decreases at
the centre of the pipe when Prandtl number is increased but increases
on raising Hartmann number and Eckert number. In all the three situations, temperature diminishes towards the boundary of the pipe.
