    Abstract/Overview
This chapter discusses the effects of chemical and physical properties of zeolites as they affect the catalytic efficacy and applications of the zeolites in environmental remediation. Heterogeneous catalysts, where zeolites majorly fall, have been extensively used in various technologies for several decades. The use of solid catalysts especially for environmental remediation technologies also requires adapting the characteristics of the solid with respect to those generally used in conventional catalytic applications. Specifically, new water treatment methods include zeolites as solid-state catalytic purifier. Here, the effects Si/Al ration, pore dimensionality, the stability, class of the zeolite and the functionality, solubility and the molecular size of the contaminant are discussed. Studies of different catalytic activities of some zeolites on selected organic pollutants realized that optimization of zeolitic working conditions in
