(INNSPUB, 2016)African nightshade (Solanum scabrum Mill.) is one important vegetable in terms of food security and nutritional balance. The vegetable is usually medicinal and also a source of income to many small scale farmers in Kenya. ... -
Antagonistic Potential Of Selected Fungal And Bacterial Isolates From Rhizosphere Of Sugarcane Variety Co 421 Against Sporisorium Scitamineum In Kibos, Kisumu County, Kenya
(2016)Sugarcane smut disease caused by a fungus Sporisorium scitamineum is a limiting factor to cane production in Kenya. It is threatening the sugar industry due to its effect on cane quality and yields. Sugarcane (Saccharum ... -
Influence of NPK Blended Fertiliser on Soil Chemical Properties under Acidic Conditions of Western Kenya on Finger Millet Crop
(Asian Research Journal of Agriculture, 2017)Soil acidity is a serious problem that affects crop productivity in Western Kenya region. The county governments of Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia and Trans-Nzoia are promoting the application of NPK blended fertilizer ... -
Effect of NPK Blended Fertilizer Rates on Growth and Yield Attributes of Finger Millet Varieties Grown in Acidic Soil of Western Kenya
(Archives of Current Research International, 2017)Finger millet (Eleusine coracana, L. Gaertn) is an important food crop in Africa and Asia. Its grain is richer in protein, fat and minerals than other major cereals. The parasitic weed Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth ... -
Morphological Characterisation of Global Finger Millet (Eleusine coracana, L. Gaertn) Germplasm Reaction to Striga in Kenya
(Asian Journal of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology, 2018)Finger millet (Eleusine coracana, L. Gaertn) is an important food crop in Africa and Asia. Its grain is richer in protein, fat and minerals than other major cereals. The parasitic weed Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth ... -
Bacteriological And Physicochemical Characterisation Of Aora Loko Stream Water, Kenya
(Asian Economic and Social Society, 2017)Safety and quality of drinking water is an important aspect in public health. Water pollution is one main cause of worldwide diseases and death. Human activities around water catchment areas contribute to some level of ... -

Innundative biocontrol of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms. Laubach) using zonate leaf spot (Acremonium zonatum Sawada gams) fungal agent
(IOSR J Agric Vet Sci, 2013)Innundative approach of biocontrol involves culturing spore inoculum for use as a concentrated formulation able to withstand storage, handling and application in weed control the same way as a chemical herbicide. A trial ... -
Evaluation of selected Acremonium zonatum Saw. Gams. mycoherbicide-oil mixtures for Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms. Laubach) biocontrol in Lake Victoria (Kenya
(2017)The use of microbial innoculum oil formulations has shown great promise for enhancing the efficacy of fungal agents that show potential as insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. When used in mycoherbicide formulation, ... -
Analysis of avocado marketing in Trans-Nzoia district, Kenya
(Academic Journals, 2011-07-31)The ability of small holder farmers to plant trees or expand traditional tree based system is limited to a number of factors. These factors are scarcity of resources, inadequate technical capacity and experience and market ... -
: Spray Pyrolysis Technique (SPT) was used to deposit thin films (TFs) of cadmium stannate, doped with iron (Fe) for the first time. The precursor solutions that were used wereprepared at a concentration of 0.1M, doped with Feand then sprayed onto the pre-heated glass slides immediately at deposition temperatures of 350 ± 7°C, 400 ± 7°C and 450 ± 7°C. The optical properties of the deposited Fe-doped TFs were studied in the wavelength range of 300-1100nm. The X-Ray diffraction (XRD) studies showed that the TFs were orthorhombic with growth orientation along the (2 0 0) direction. Film thickness of 85 ± 10 nm was obtained. It was found out that anincrease in the deposition temperature increased transmittance and band gap, but decreased absorption coefficient, extinction coefficient and refractive index, which was attributed to the improvement in crystallinity of the deposited TFs. Doping reduced transmittance and band gap, but increased refractive index, absorption coefficient and extinction coefficient, which was attributed to the increase in free carriers. KEYWORDS:cadmium stannate, deposition temperature, iron-doped, optical properties of cadmium stannate
(Elsevier, 2020)The elastic properties of the orthorhombic cadmium stannate (Cd2SnO4) were investigated using density functional theory, applying both energy-strain relationship (which is found in the literature) and stress-strain ... -
Effect Of Deposition Temperature On The optical Properties Of Iron-Doped Cadmium Stannate Thin Films Deposited By Spray Pyrolysis
(IJSTRE, 2019): Spray Pyrolysis Technique (SPT) was used to deposit thin films (TFs) of cadmium stannate, doped with iron (Fe) for the first time. The precursor solutions that were used wereprepared at a concentration of 0.1M, doped ... -
